Graduate Applicant
USF welcomes applications from prospective students from all over the world, and our international admission representatives travel to many countries to meet with prospective students and their families. We invite you to visit us on campus, and encourage you to do so, if at all possible.
We hope our site offers you a glimpse of what it’s like to live, study, and be a part of our community at USF. And we’ve always got people to help with the graduate application process. Request information for your program of interest or visit our graduate program list to learn more.
Applications for all graduate programs must be submitted online. As part of your application, you may also be required to submit the following documents:
Certification of Finances
All F-1 (student visa) international students are required by the U.S. government to submit a Certification of Finance (COF) to their university. The COF is evidence that a student has sufficient financial funds to pay for tuition and living expenses for the first year of graduate studies at USF.
In your online application account, you will upload proof of funds (bank statements, bank letter, scholarship letter) in the section for Certification of Finances. Proof of funding is required in order for your application to be reviewed for admission.
English Proficiency
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELTS (International English Language Testing System), or Pearson Test of English Academic is required of most international students with very few specific exceptions.
The following table shows the minimum requirements for each school or program. When taking the TOEFL, please indicate the USF school code 4850 so that your test score will be sent directly to USF. USF also accepts the IELTS and the Pearson Test of English Academic.
Some programs in the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Management may offer English-conditional admission. Please see the College of Arts and Sciences or the School of Management for more information. The School of Education and the School of Nursing and Health Professions do not offer English-conditional admission.
