　　imperious adj.跋扈的、狂妄的、作威作福的

　　詞根 imper = command 表現"敕令、統治"

　　If you describe someone as imperious, you mean that they have a proud manner and expect to be obeyed.

　　impending adj.close in time; about to occur 行將產生的，切近親近的

　　e.g. First, he gives the enemy 12 days of warning about impending air attacks. 他先給仇敵發出告誡：12天後就會動員空襲。

　　pending和impending都有“行將產生的”意思，二者的差別在於:

　　pending著重“未決議的、期待(產生)的”

　　impending表現“行將產生、切近親近的”

　　illuminate v. make free from confusion or ambiguity 說明、論述清楚清楚明了

　　If you illuminate something that is unclear or difficult to understand, you make it clearer by explaining it carefully or giving information about it.

　　例句：The problem is that for illuminating answers, you need to ask the right questions.

　　難點在於你要問對了題目，能力獲得明白清楚的謎底。

　　headway n. forward movement 進步、獲得希望

　　At times, you feel like you're struggleing to run forward, going through the motions but making no headway, frozen in place. 偶然，你認為本身很盡力地在向前奔馳，敷衍了許多差事卻僵在原地，沒有任何提高。
