International students from a non-EU/EAA country who don't hold a Swedish residence permit needs to pay tuition fees to study in Sweden.Exchange students and EU/EEA citizens are exempt from tuition fees.

An application fee is payable when applying at universityadmissions.se. Tuition fees are paid directly to the University. You do not need to pay an application fee if you are registered for studies at a Swedish university at the time of applying.

Who needs to pay application and tuition fees?

Students who need to pay application and tuition fees:

-Citizens from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland

-Fees only apply for Bachelor's and Master's level courses and programmes.

Students who do not need to pay application and tuition fees:

-Citizens of a country within the EU/EEA or Switzerland

-Students admitted before fees were introduced will not be expected to pay fees when they are introduced. For example, if you begin a two-year programme in 2010, you will be able to complete your studies without paying fees.
