Finances
In order to get a residence permit as a foreign student in Norway, you must be able to provide for yourself during your stay. The minimum requirement for subsistence is financial means equivalent to full funding by the State Educational Loan Fund. For the academic year 2016-17 this amounts to NOK 100 920 or NOK 50 460 per semester. The financial requirement does not apply to students from the EU/EEA. You will find further information at the Norwegian Directorate of Immigrations web site.
Living expenses in Norway are considered to be higher than in many other countries. You should expect to spend NOK 8 000,- per month for subsistence.
Accomodation
As an international full time student your accommodation is guaranteed and provided by SISOF (The Student Welfare Organisation). Accommodation in both Førde and Sogndal is close to campus and rent includes internet and electricity. One room costs roughly NOK 3 000 per month.
Tuition Fees and Scholarship
Just to keep you in the loop, we charge no tuition fees for courses. However, you will have to pay a minor study fee of about NOK 600,- per semester, unless you are an Erasmus or Nordplus student - then your fee is waivered. Please note that some courses demand additional fees for excursions and fieldtrips. You may find out if this is the case for your course by looking at the course description. We do not offer any scholarships to international student.
