　　Tuition Fees Regulations

　　Since the 2013 summer semester, pursuant to § 91 of the Universities Act 2002 (Universitätsgesetz, UG), the following regulations concerning tuition fees apply:

　　Membership to the Austrian National Union of Students (ÖH) is compulsory for all degree program and non-degree program students and costs € 18.70. The ÖH membership dues must be paid by all students, including those whose tuition fees are waived. The ÖH membership dues does not increase in the extended enrollment period.

　　Degree program students:

　　The standard tuition fee is € 363.36 per semester. The tuition fee for Non-EU and Non-EEA Citizens is € 726.72 per semester. Payment during the extended enrollment period increases the standard fee of € 363.36 by 10%. The tuition fee of € 726.72 for third-country nationals does not increase in the extended enrollment period.

　　As a general rule, these tuition fees are compulsory for all students at all Austrian universities. However, tuition fees can be waived permanently or temporarily for certain groups of students unter certain conditions. Temporary waiver of tuition fees:

　　Tuition fees are waived temporarily for the length of the prescribed standard duration of the respective degree program, plus two extra semesters (tuition-free period) for the following groups of degree program students:

　　Austrian citizens

　　Citizens of EU countries

　　Citizens of EEA countries (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein)

　　Swiss citizens

　　Refugees under the provisions of the Geneva Convention (including students from other EU countries)

　　Students covered by the provisions of the ordinance governing admission of certain groups of potential students (Personengruppenverordnung)

　　Students who are holders of a residence permit other than a Student Residence Permit (Aufenthaltsbewilligung Studierende) issued by the appropriate Austrian authority or by the appropriate authority of another EU country

　　These students must prove their status to the Admissions Office by providing all the necessary documents (residence permit, administrative decision on asylum application, etc.).

　　Living Costs Living

　　Costs When planning an exchange stay in Vienna as an exchange student, students should plan for the following estimated costs. Please note that all figures are estimates, subject to change and may vary accoring to individual requirements.

　　Housing approx. € 400 - 600 per month

　　Insurance approx. € 50 per month

　　Food, personal expenses approx. € 220 - 300 per month

　　Vienna public transportation approx. € 150 per semester Utilities (telephone, mail, etc.) approx. € 15 - 30 per month

　　Entertainment approx. € 50 - 150 per month

　　Books approx. € 75 - 150 per semester

　　Students' Union (ÖH) dues (ÖH-Beitrag) approx. € 18 per semester
