　　With increasing rural labor force flooding into urban areas, the problem of left-behind children has emerged as a serious social issue in China. They cannot gain consistent support since lots of donations and help offered by various parties were just one-off activities. Therefore, in 2009, I initiated the social practice in Tsinghua, to identify how left-behind children can achieve long-term self-aid with the guidance from college students.

　　I led 15 members to Henan province and spent one week staying with 40 left-behind children. We designed and implemented the self-aid model by holding a 7-day training camp consisting of lectures, group activities, family visits and individual interviews, to understand the left-behind children's psychology status and improve their self-confidence thereby. After the 7-day experience, the left-behind children became more confident to express their ideas. Local government and media helped promote our model, leading to the successful appliance by China’s first Left-behind Children Club.

　　To make sustained efforts in addressing this issue and extending to a broader range of social problems in China, in 2010, I launched Society of INNovating public Good (SING) in Tsinghua, aiming to attract more students to participate in volunteering work and regard it as a life-long career.
